About Troy...

Troy
Helming has been a clean energy ecopreneur since 1999, when he founded Kansas Wind Power LLC.  After several years of raising capital (several million dollars) to develop wind farms, he led efforts to acquire letters of intent and/or contracts for $300 Million of wind projects.  He sold his interest in the company in 2003 to form Krystal Energy Corporation.  Kansas Wind Power was later renamed TradeWind Energy LLC and recapitalized by Italian electric utility Enel with an infusion of approximately $10 Million, allowing Troy’s original investors to recover nearly all of their initial investment in cash as well as retain a pro-rata share of the company.  Since that time, Troy has written a book ("The Clean Power Revolution"), created The Freedom PlanSM (convert America to 100% wind & hydrogen and save the U.S. economy $20 Trillion by 2025), published numerous articles, performed as a keynote speaker in 12 states and 4 countries, promoted renewable energy tirelessly on TV and numerous radio shows, and consulted for Wall Street financial firms and major consulting firms, including McKinsey & Company, as a renewable energy expert.

In 2004, Troy fought the construction of various new coal plants, including being retained by the Sierra Club as an expert witness on wind energy to testify against Kansas City Power & Light.  Shortly after that testimony, Troy guided Krystal Energy successfully through a major regulatory battle with the state of Missouri - but the time and money spent on that legal defense contributed to a significant decline of his company’s wind, solar, and energy efficiency product sales.

Prior to beginning his renewable energy career, Troy was the President of a telecommunications sales company, and had a successful career in network marketing, where he built a sales organization of 16,000 people and became a million dollar earner.  Troy started his career in sales at AT&T.  He holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Kansas (where he was captain of the National Champion yell-leading squad on ESPN and a 2-time All American), has certifications in utility scale wind energy finance and small wind system design & technical sales, and is a member of Mensa.
